Tuesday Forecast: Rain Likely with Falling Temperatures
North winds will keep the daytime highs in the mid to upper 40s today with partly cloudy conditions this morning and sunny sky this afternoon.
Wednesday will be a “light wind” day with north winds early and south winds later in the day. A low pressure system will develop off the SC coast for Wednesday and Thursday – a setup that will favor cooler and wetter weather.
After some morning pockets of freezing rain to the west, temperatures spike to near 40 during the afternoon. Spots of rain are expected to move over the area every three to four hours today as temperatures peak in the mid 50s. However, some of the weather forecast models are suggesting that we could see a mix of rain and snow. Highs will be in the lower 50s.
Temperatures warm into the 60s Thursday through the weekend! Friday remains quiet for now, with readings in the lower to middle 30s. Average highs for late January are mid to upper 50s. Snow levels will again be high to start… over 5000′. Meanwhile, the cloud cover will hang tough across counties to the north/east. Cities/towns along and east of US-75 will be the coolest, with highs in the lower/middle 30s.
The weekend features some clouds, but temperatures should be warmer by then, approaching the lower 40s.
Lows will get milder too, staying in the lower 40s into Sunday morning.
