Tulsa officials say Eufaula robbery suspect should have been in jail
FBI Special Agent Terry Weber said at a news conference that a man walked into the Bank of Eufaula, about 125 miles east of Oklahoma City, Thursday morning and shot a bank employee. The bank president and a bank teller were shot there.
Two people robbed the Bank of Eufaula around 9:45 a.m., authorities said. Police say the man then grabbed a metal bat that was located behind the counter and struck an employee several times.
The robber was able to take a customer hostage, Weber said.
Officials in Oklahoma said the person accused of a deadly bank robbery in Eufaula should have never been out of jail from a previous sentence he was serving.
Weber says one of two suspects was shot dead after leading police on a auto chase through McIntosh County.
The trooper used his patrol auto to bump the getaway vehicle off Onapa Road, just west of US 69.
Patrol spokesman Lt. John Vincent said three law enforcement agencies responded during the pursuit, and he was unable to confirm who shot the robber.
The trooper fired back, killing the suspect.
News on 6 Norris was killed in a shootout after fleeing the scene in a white SUV. It was unclear whether she was shot by the assailant or injured by gunfire from law enforcement, Weber said.
OBSI contacted Irving detectives on Thursday and let them know that the suspect involved in the Eufaula robbery had been driving the stolen vehicle. The FBI said Texas was his last known state of residence.
After leaving the bank, Norris drove north and was briefly chased by officers before being killed in the shootout.
Simpson, who witnessed the horrific scene, described the bank robbery as being “unconventional”.
