Turbulence forces emergency landing in Rapid City, injures 24
Rhonda Renee, another passenger, said the turbulence was like a bad dream.
A spokesperson for Rapid City Regional Hospital said the 24 people from were treated and released, all with minor injuries.
After taking off from Boston, the flight had to be diverted to Rapid City, South Dakota because of what CNN described as weather-related turbulence.
Three flight attendants standing in the back were also knocked off their feet, he said.
The flight took off from Boston Logan International Airport at 5:45 p.m. ET on Thursday, according to JetBlue’s flight status information.
“The captain had said that we were going to be hitting [turbulence]”.
Passengers talked about how people were lifted out of their seats, some hitting the jet’s ceiling. “People were flying all over the place”, he said. “Nearly like and elevator dropped 50 floors that’s what it felt like and everybody starts screaming and flew up in the air”, she said.
Those injured were transported to the local hospital. Hit her head on ceiling and completely dislodged panel.
A Sacramento-bound plane had to make an unexpected landing after 22 passengers were injured by turbulence.
A replacement aircraft was sent to take the remaining passenger to Sacramento, said JetBlue officials.
