Turkey hails US-Russian deal on Syria
US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the truce, reached late on Friday, would come into force on Monday, the first day of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. But if Russian Federation acquiesces to Syrian government violations or breaks the deal itself by hitting USA -backed rebels, the only recourse the United States may have is to abandon the cease-fire scheduled to start at sundown Monday and the military cooperation arrangement supposed to take effect seven days thereafter.
Fighting raged on in southern Aleppo on Saturday, the army and rebels said, hours after the United States and Russian Federation hailed a breakthrough deal to put Syria’s peace process back on track.
He said the accord would also prevent Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s air force from flying combat missions anywhere the opposition is present, calling this provision the “bedrock of the agreement”.
In return, the United States is to persuade the opposition groups it has been supporting to separate themselves from the Nusra forces. -Russian military cooperation in the fight against terrorism at the center of the effort to end Syria’s war.

The success of the deal will depend, however, on the extent to which both parties can influence their allies on the ground in Syria to comply with its terms.
Now, the two powers are lining up in an unexpected new military partnership targeting IS and al-Qaida-linked militants, while trying to prod Assad and opposition groups to end a civil war that has killed up to 500,000 people and displaced millions.
Both warring sides would pull back from the strategic Castello Road in Aleppo to create a demilitarised zone, while opposition rebels and government groups would both have to provide safe and unhindered access via Ramouseh in the south of the city.
