Turkish jets attack PKK in northern Iraq after attacks
At least four people have been killed in a bomb attack targeting a police vehicle in southern Turkey.
The official said at least four people were killed in the attack targeting a police vehicle in the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir.
A ceasefire was broken a year ago, with attacks between the government and PKK leaving hundreds dead.
The sources further blamed the incident on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) that has been fighting for an autonomous Kurdish region in southeastern Turkey since 1984.
Wednesday’s bomb attacks in the southeast’s largest city Diyarbakir and in the Kiziltepe area of Mardin province, were condemned by the HDP in a statement on Wednesday evening.
A roadside bomb was set off in Kiziltepe just as a police bus passed by. They said 12 people were wounded in that attack, including five police officers.
Earlier in the day, three soldiers were killed and 10 wounded when militants opened fire with rockets and long-range weapons from across the border in northern Iraq.

Turkey is dealing with the aftermath of a failed coup attempt on July 15 which killed more than 240 people and wounded 2,200.
The country is also combating the Islamic State group, whose militants have carried out a series of bloody attacks in Turkey in the past year. Meanwhile, the US “strongly” denounced the attacks with Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter calling them “despicable” in a statement. “The United States remains committed to cooperating closely with Turkey – bilaterally, within the counter-ISIL coalition, and within North Atlantic Treaty Organisation – in order to defend our nations against common threats”.
Turkish media reports that PKK leader Cemil Nayik threatened attacks against Turkish police earlier this week. Human rights groups say hundreds of civilians have also died. The PKK is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
