Turning Much Cooler By Sunday
That hasn’t necessarily been the case since this last cold front pushed through. Light northwest winds usher in ever cooler air resulting in lows in the upper 30s in colder suburbs but mid-40s downtown.
Sunday morning will likely bring a few widespread frost across the area, with temperatures dropping into the lower 30s. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 70s. A dry cold front will move through on Friday and winds will increase to the 10 to 20 miles per hour range.
Until then, enjoy a lovely stretch of fantastic fall weather! For high school football, we can expect mostly clear and cool conditions. For the rest of us, just start rummaging through the back of the closet for jackets and sweaters especially if you are out viewing the myriad of planets on display in the predawn sky.
I’m forecasting an overnight low of 47 for Springfield.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY: Sunny, dry and cooler with afternoon highs in the 60s, possibly 70 on Sunday.
Skies will become sunny this afternoon, but it won’t be almost as warm as it has been.
Highs this weekend should be in the low 80s, with lows in the upper-50s to lower 60s.
