On Sunday night, she looked happier than ever in a low-cut Thierry Mugler pink dress at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Food Network star, who is Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s girlfriend, declared in a Tuesday morning interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she was “cancer-free” and “ready to go”, two days after she appeared at the Emmy Awards.
Lee, who would be the first lady of New York if she and Cuomo were married, was diagnosed with breast cancer in March and eventually had double mastectomy in May.
“I was early stage and what the lovely thing is about early stage cancer … is it gives you every option in the world, and that is what I took”, Lee said.
Cancer survivors, journalist Joan Lunden and chef Sandra Lee, shared their stories of hope and courage with ET.
Lee said her politico boyfriend is “the only one that makes me cry”, calling him, “so sweet”. She was rushed to the hospital for post-mastectomy complications in August, and had surgery to treat an infection days later.
Silver liningL Lee also revealed that the pink gown she wore for her recent appearance at the Emmys (above) was something she had been waiting years to wear, but could not because her breasts were too large.
You all have been so great, so wonderfully supportive and so sweetly available to me so I want to take a minute and say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Why we would consider negotiating with cancer is beyond me. “Let’s just see what it does?” She promised that the website would be added to frequently by team members and also by herself and said that plenty of good stuff pertaining to parties and entertainment would be included, in light of the upcoming holiday season.
“I am not even going to think about next steps until after the Super Bowl”, said Lee about the 50th anniversary of the championship game, taking place in February.
Beyond continuing her role as an advocate, Lee said she’s going to take it easy.
