Twilight Characters Swap Genders In New Book
So the Bella Swan character (played by Kristen Stewart in the film adaptation) is now a male named Beau, vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson in the film) is Edythe and werewolf Jacob Black (played by Taylor Lautner) is now Julie.
The best-selling series, Twilight, is being re-imagined.
She told ABC’s Good Morning America on Tuesday that her publisher asked her to write a new forward to mark the anniversary, but she wanted to push beyond that.
Meyer told National Public Radio (NPR) that there are a few differences to the plot and numerous characters had their personalities tweaked in transition from the original, though the plot is generally the same.
Meyer said she was also inspired by comments made at book signings about Bella being a ‘damsel in distress’.
“It’s always bothered me a little bit”.
Meyers’ 10th anniversary edition of Twilight, which contains Life and Death, is now available online and in bookstores. “For me, this anniversary is a celebration of the fans, with all of their incredible passion and dedication”, Meyer said in a statement. Why?
“I think if you were to swap the roles, people would find Edward so courageous”, the 25-year-old says in the clip.
‘But it starts out very similar and really it really is the same story because it’s just a love story and it doesn’t matter who’s the boy and who’s the girl it still works out’.
