Twitter faces outage on all platforms
That followed some problems that Twitter users experienced on both the mobile and Web platforms on Monday, when service was down for a 10-minute period.
The company says on its Twitter Support account Tuesday that it is aware of the issue and is working toward a solution.
TWITTER has been suffering its second technical failure in one day, leaving social media commentators to observe how dependent users have become on the site.
In case you didn’t notice, Twitter was down for many users.
While the mobile app was able to load user profiles, timeline feeds for certain pages were sporadically-updated.
A spokesperson for Twitter Europe confirmed the site was down, while users in South Africa, Brazil, the Philippines, Nigeria and Uganda also reported problems accessing the site with the hashtag #twitterdown on Facebook. Some Twitter users in Europe were still able to publish suggesting there was never a complete blackout in the region. Some services were still unavailable making it so some users still couldn’t access Twitter.
When asked if a DNS or other security issue could have caused the outage, Travis Smith, senior security research engineer at Tripwir said, “Security operations live and die by the Central Intelligence Agency triad; also known as confidentiality, integrity, and availability”.
“At times like this, I miss the ‘Fail Whale, ‘” another user added.
“The absence of Twitter morning rendered anecdotes useless; the child screaming on your train to work was no longer of interest by 11am”. But problems lingered; those in our US office had trouble posting tweets via Twitter.com around 9:30 a.m. ET; an error message blamed server issues.
There has been no response from Twitter on this and they are still refraining from talking about the problems that might have led to this.
