Twitter finally has a decent Windows app
Twitter is planning to launch a new app for Windows 10, following a lacklustre amount of updates to its Windows 8.
The ability to view, share, and save screenshots in the SmartGlass app – just like you already can in the Xbox app on Windows 10 – is coming to Android and iOS. It is a universal Windows app that offers instant access to top tweets, photos and videos, without the need for a login.
The tweets will appear within the live tiles sitting within the Start menu.
While these new dev tools, including an improved XAML designer and GPU support in the Windows 10 Mobile Emulator, are intended to simplify cross-device application development, they’re not meant to oversimplify and turn out generic apps. The updated Twitter for iOS is now available to download from the App Store.
You can also post new tweets right through Twitter for Windows 10.
Other highlights include multiple photo tweets (up to 4), animated GIF, Vine playback and photo sharing in Direct Messages. If you’re still waiting you can read our Windows 10 review and peep the 9 Windows 10 features you should try first.
