Twitter Gets an Easy Built-In Gif Search Engine
Twitter rolled out its new algorithmic timeline last week and today announced plans to launch a dedicated GIF button. Whenever you’re composing a tweet or a DM simply search and browse the GIF library to find one that you want to use with that message. “You can search by keyword, or browse categories of different reactions like Happy Dance, Mic Drop, or YOLO”. In time, however, all users of Twitter will be getting this new feature to make their Twitter experience a bit more engaging and exciting. It’s not unlike what you’ve seen in the likes of Kik, GroupMe or Facebook Messenger – press a button, and you’ll have a nice portal filled with GIFs to liven up your posts.
The company said that over 100 million GIFs were shared on the platform past year. GIPHY’s users are creating GIFs for news, entertainment, sports, and expression that can enrich Tweets. So now to make them even easier to access, a GIF library – powered by Giphy and Riffsy – is becoming part of the Twitter interface. And soon it’ll be easier to find and share GIFs on Twitter. GIF search has now arrived on Twitter.
