Twitter has been granted a patent for a social media drone
Apparently, Twitter is counting on developing a drone that can share footage in real-time on the user’s profile, as it films videos and takes photos while floating in the sky. That leaves open the possibility it could use the app in tandem with high-flying drones to capture and broadcast events through its platform, with crowds of Periscope users controlling the process.
Recently, TheStreet Ratings objectively rated this stock according to its “risk-adjusted” total return prospect over a 12-month investment horizon. Among the areas we feel are negative, one of the most important has been a generally disappointing historical performance in the stock itself.
The micro-blogging site has filed a patent for a drone capable of taking photos and videos controlled by tweets and sharing them through users’ Twitter accounts.
Upon being asked to comment regarding this recently obtained patent, Twitter representatives have remained excessively tight-lipped, their sole two words being “drone selfies”.
Twitter (TWTR) has been granted a patent that could lead to drone selfies.
The patent for the Twitter drone also describe how it could be controlled in different ways. Twitter applied for the patent earlier this year and it states that it is for a “Messaging-enabled unmanned aerial vehicle”. The Twitter drone shall also boost the company’s Periscope application, since it supports tele-presence, and allows fast streaming of whatever it captures.
Twitter isn’t the only company looking to capitalize on new technology.
The move comes as other tech firms, including Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL)-owned Google, Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN), Facebook (NASDAQ:FB), Alibaba Group (NYSE:BABA) and Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT), plan to use drones to make deliveries.
