Twitter reacts: Jen and Ben separated six months ago

Garner and Affleck’s 10th wedding anniversary came on Monday. But the two have now decided to part ways putting months of rumours to a rest.

In their statement confirming the sad news, the couple said they had nothing but love and respect for each other and co-parenting their kids remained the top priority. In April 2004, they became engaged and were married two months later during a private ceremony in Turks and Caicos.

Ben Affleck credited Jennifer with the revival of his career in a December 2013 interview. But all seemed well in the world of Jen and Ben when they were seen on a family trip with their kids at a farmer’s market earlier in June.

“Although they will file for divorce, it won’t be done immediately”, reports TMZ.

A family starts… the couple at the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees baseball game in 2005. A source close to Affleck and Garner revealed that although the duo tried to hide their personal problems, it’s obvious that they were experiencing marital conflicts.

The divorce filing won’t be immediate, with the duo using a mediator to hammer out real estate, money and joint custody arrangements. They are parents to Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel. Starting in May, intense rumors about the couple leading “separate lives” arose, amid speculation that Ben hadn’t been wearing his wedding ring anymore. The director said: “It is work but it’s the best kind of work and there is nobody else I would rather do that kind of work with”. “Thank you for understanding.” the couple said in a joint statement.

Affleck previously dated Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.

The announcement comes roughly a week before Affleck is expected to appear at San Diego Comic-Con to promote Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in which the actor plays Batman.

Back in 2014, Garner had spoken about their marriage while talking to a leading magazine saying that she and her husband were not willing to enter the courtship phase and were trying to sort out problems and be together with love.
