Twitter reacts to Arsenal ace Gabriel’s bizarre red card against Chelsea
This barely tells the story of a game that will leave Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger furious and frustrated in equal measure as he saw his players fall victim to the trademark and predictable wind-up tactics of Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
Costa clashed with Laurent Koscielny inside the Arsenal penalty area and then tussled with Gabriel, which led to yellow cards for both players.
Like I said on Twitter, Gabriel Paulista was rather silly to get himself sent off. Diego Costa is a dirty player and will pull and scratch at opposing defenders.
“I don’t understand Mike Dean’s decision at all“.
“Costa will do the same next week and the week after and get away with it. We expect that kind of game but you expect the referee to make the right decision”. “And on that day we lost the game, we lost a cup, it was not good for us”.
The fact he wasn’t infuriated Gabriel as the first half went into injury time, and as Costa continued to goad Gabriel, the Arsenal man lashed out with his studs.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had a lively exchange with journalists after their 2-0 defeat of Arsenal.
“I said if we have to lose the match let’s show our strength and pride, let’s react”. “He brought everything to the game”.
Kurt Zouma, who was playing place of skipper John Terry, headed Chelsea in front from Fabregas’ free kick early in the second half and Eden Hazard added a second goal with a deflected shot in the 89th minute.
LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard, Terry’s former England team-mate, suggested relations between Mourinho and the defender were strained.
The victory represents Chelsea’s first home league win of the season and comes off the back of a Champions League success against Maccabi Tel Aviv in midweek. And it’s something – I repeat – every derby you don’t win without emotional control. Because the game has to be played like that, OK?
Arsenal made few clear-cut chances of their own and have not beaten Chelsea in their last eight league matches and not scored against them in their last five. I trust him as always and he’s one of my men.
At the start of the second half, 10-men Arsenal were pegged back by Chelsea who were a man up in the game.
“I don’t care what you say, media, pundits”.
