Twitter Reacts To Detroit Lions’ Win Over New York Giants

COAST TO COAST: The Detroit Lions signed punter Jeff Locke, a little more than a week after he was having lunch with friends in Santa Monica, California.

Last season, Stafford and company dropped a 17-6 decision in a game here that featured another great one-handed touchdown catch by Odell Beckham Jr. and a lot of good defense by the Giants.

But when your team is lumbering as badly as the New York Giants, there may not be many better choices.

There were moments of hope, where the Giants seemed ready to right the ship after last week’s embarrassing loss at the Dallas Cowboys. That dates back to when Martha Firestone Ford fired everybody. Look for the Giants offense to bounce back with OBJ to make the over the play in tonight’s matchup.

It is the ignorance of offseason moves by management to ignore adding depth let alone talent to the offensive line that is coming home to roost, a major reason why the Giants are 0-2.

The stat sheet for this game would lead one to believe this was a long, low-scoring affair. Chances are Manning would have gotten sacked a sixth time. They still have the Falcons, Steelers, and Packers before the first half of the season ends.

The only thing going right for the Giants these days might be the standings after two games.

The Giants held a halftime ceremony to honor the 10th anniversary of their 2007 Super Bowl championship team. This year Austin’s defense is two-for-two in holding teams to 20 or less.

Davis, who played at Florida and is from Kingsland, had six tackles and a sack before being injured.

Monday night at MetLife Stadium represented a bit of a homecoming for Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron, who grew up in Newark, N.J.as a New York Giants fan. In both games this season, Stafford has logged a 71 percent completion percentage. And through two games, they stink period.

Last season though, NY managed to claim a solid 17-6 victory over the Lions.

Just before the half, the Lions extended their lead with a bouncing Matt Prater field goal.

The prudent path is to make it a one-possession game with that much time remaining because the Giants needed to score again anyway – and that doesn’t even take into account McAdoo’s hesitation before sending in the play from the sideline. “We had two primetime football games versus two pretty good opponents and it’s no excuses, but we’ve got to find a way to get better and we are not going to throw the baby out with the bath water”. Granted 23 of those came from Matthew Stafford but the Lions’ QB has been savvier at choosing when to run the ball. The Detroit run game was the one area of weakness with Ameer Abdullah leading the team in rushing with just 30 yards. But its most gaping hole continues to show, and with powerful pass rushes from Philadelphia, Seattle and Denver soon on tap, this may be only the beginning.
