Twitter Rethinking 140 Character Limit
The social network is developing a new product that will allow users to share tweets that exceed the infamous 140-character limit, according to ReCode.
Twitter users may soon no longer have to abide by the 140-character limit when sending tweets as the company are reportedly preparing a new product that will allow for longer posts.
Dorsey is apparently supportive of a potential change, a bold stance and yet another sign that he isn’t simply keeping the CEO seat warm until Twitter finds someone permanent. In the past, Twitter has tinkered with the limit in other ways. It did end up removing the limit from direct messages, but tweets are still largely shackled to the same limitation as always.
Chris Sacca who is one of the early Twitter investors has also voiced his support for having Dorsey as Twitter’s CEO. However, a Twitter spokesperson has declined to comment on this. Links have also been expanded to cards so that viewers have a preview of the subject.
Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR)’s board is still searching for a CEO and their lack of success thereof is already exerting downward pressure on the share price of Twitter.
This could be the much-needed shakeup that Twitter needs to keep Wall Street happy. Now many Twitter and Square investors are making public proclamations that Dorsey is the right man for the job at both companies.
“The outside world really can’t see this yet but we’ve made massive changes in the time in terms of the product…”
