Twitter shares in a tailspin as user growth falters
The microblogging platform claimed that it had 320 million monthly active users around the globe, the same number as last quarter.

The rollout of this feature comes as Twitter has been feeling pressure from investors and advertisers who’d like to see the network be friendlier to new users who may find its fast-flowing streams overwhelming. At least for now. The app is introducing home timeline that will show the “best tweets first”, rather than listing them in reverse chronological order.
Although the new timeline has been widely criticized by most users, advertisers seem quite optimistic about it. The hash tag #RIPTwitter trended throughout the weekend. Based on that analysis, Twitter will begin featuring tweets that it believes will be most likely to capture a user’s interest at the top of the timeline. In response, Twitter CEO said the company does not plan to re order timelines soon. It’s a well known fact at this point that Twitter is falling behind some of the bigger social media players.
The option to turn the feature on should roll out to all users this week. Turning off the feature is universal so you won’t need to worry about disabling it manually across all your devices.
In its letter to shareholders, Twitter outlined its priorities for 2016, including making its service more accessible to newcomers; investing in technology to fight harassment and abuse; and encouraging more developers to work with Twitter. “We’re going to continue to refine it to make Twitter feel more, not less, live!”
