Twitter suffers extended outage on Tuesday morning
Now the service is up and running, people are faced with the philosophical question… if the missing hours weren’t discussed on Twitter, did they actually happen? In addition, Tweetdeck, the social media dashboard of Twitter, had also become non-functional for many users worldwide. However, there has been no confirmation from the company about whether its services has been restored to all its users globally, Reuters reported. “Thanks for noticing. We’re going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon”, the message on the website read. On Dec. 28, 2014, the site dealt with an access issue for five hours, 25 minutes, which may be the longest before today.
Twitter went down completely for users in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe at around 8.30am on Tuesday with further problems reported by those in other locations. The number of reports it was receiving reached a peak of 2,550 at around 7:30 a.m., and has been steadily decreasing since then. Despite this issue, some users have still been able to tweet, with the hashtag #twitterdown now trending in the UK.
947’s Anele Mdoda is one of the country’s biggest Twitter personalities.
In a statement it was said, “Some users are now experiencing problems accessing Twitter”.
Twitter chose to communicate the problem via a tweet mailed to the Guardian daily in London, in which the firm said it was aware of the problem.
Before that, the last reported outage came two months ago: November 19, a 30-minute span where “some users were experiencing issues accessing Twitter”.
Surprisingly, users have remained calm.
Twitter says that it has fixed a glitchy software update responsible for the recent widespread service outages.
