Twitter Unveils English Premier League Emoji
Twitter will play a vital part of the football season this year – especially as a full two thirds of Premier League players have accounts registered with the site.
Barclays Premier League has embraced Twitter and launched a set of new football emojis on the eve of the opening fixture weekend for the 2015/2016 season. Fans can post these in tweets simply by using certain hashtags such as #Arsenal or #LFC.
Each club’s emoji is also linked to its specific hashtag, although this is where it gets confusing. Remember that these are non-standard emoji, though, so they’ll only work on Twitter.
Just hashtag your favourite team’s commonly used initials or abbreviations, and their badge will show up in emoji form. For example, a match between Everton and Liverpool may have the hashtag #EVELFC.
Twitter had earlier unveiled an interactive Premier League follower map to show which teams were popular across the world as a means of engaging football fans across the platform.
