Twitter was down for many users
Warren Knight, a social media expert, said the blackout would not help Twitter‘s image, but the firm should have no problem bouncing back.
The company, which has 320 million active users, tweeted that it is aware of the issue and is trying to fix it. The announcement was sent at 03:41 EST.
According to the Daily Mail, some users have had success accessing the service using Twitter’s mobile apps.
Twitter’s web and mobile services in northern Europe began suffering outages at around 0820 GMT. The service appeared to be restored for some users by 9:15 a.m.in NY. Twitter’s development site also confirmed the outage. However, there are still reports coming out of different regions of the world that the website is failing, with messages of “over capacity” and “internal error”.
Twitter now has just over 300 million users but had its slowest user growth in 2015.
Twitter went down completely for users in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe at around 8.30am on Tuesday with further problems reported by those in other locations. Even Japan faced the same problems, but other Asian countries stated that Twitter was normal at their end. Let’s hope that the company has found a permanent solution to this, so that users don’t have to suffer from these issues again. “As some noticed”, Twitter officials reported at that time, “Twitter.com was redirected for a while but API and platform applications were working”.
Although the disruptions were among the most extensive the company has yet encountered, Twitter is not the only popular social network to face technical problems.
That came after a 20-minute blip last Friday.
Twitter has not yet revealed the cause of the problems.
