Two brothers charged for assaulting parents
Yvonne Ervin called 911 Saturday morning and reported that she and husband Zachary were being attacked in their own home.
According to WSB, Yvonne Ervin called 911 to report that her sons Cameron, 17, and Christopher, 22, were trying to kill her and her husband. She stated that her husband was distracting them so she was able to call for help.
The brothers were identified as Cameron Ervin, 17, and Christopher Ervin, 22, the Gwinnett County Police told ABC News.
Police say two brothers are accused of attempting to kill their parents, beating them both in a suburban Atlanta home.
Police said they still don’t know the motives of the sons in the incident.
When police arrived they found both sons in different locations – and both parents seriously injured with the father stabbed and the mother beaten. Zachary Ervin was hospitalized in critical condition. Atlanta police officials are working diligently to uncover the brother’s motives for wanting their parents dead.
Officers at the scene picked up a “strong odor of natural gas” at the house, Long told the Journal-Constitution. Both went to a nearby hospital, the newspaper reported.
He said on Sunday that police have “several theories” about the incident and detectives found evidence showing the brothers had “tried to start a fire”. The sons also plotted to burn the home down, and had “introduced natural gas into the house”, Long said.
“You would never even expect that”, neighbor Clint Miller said, according to ABC affiliate WSB-TV in Atlanta.
Police said the two suspects were cooperative and that they were moved to the Gwinnett County Detention Center with numerous charges pending.
