Two Brothers Charged in Murder of Dwyane Wade’s Cousin
CHICAGO Two brothers have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of the cousin of National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade as she was walking to register her children for school, Chicago police announced Sunday.
Derren Sorrells and Darwin Sorrells Jr. were both charged with first-degree murder on Sunday.
Nykea Aldridge, 32, a mother of four, was pushing a baby stroller Friday afternoon on Chicago’s South Side when she was shot. “She loved God, loved her family, ‘ Jones said”. Brendan Deenihan said at a news conference Sunday, but rather a driver who had just dropped off passengers in the neighborhood.
Johnson called on legislators to “get serious” when it comes to Chicago’s gun problem, saying until repeat offenders ‘are put in jail and kept there, we’re going to keep running in circles on this’. He had been sentenced to six years in January 2013 but was released early, Johnson said. FAMILY VIGILAlso on Sunday, the family held an emotional vigil. NASA funded the study run through the University of Hawaii. Police said she was not the intended target of the shooting.
The Sorrells were quickly arrested thanks to surveillance footage and help from the public, according to Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. Her daughter’s three older children are 12, 10 and 8. “It’s unacceptable in an American city to continue to have this level of violence, and the level of violence in Chicago is unacceptable”.
While Chicago is on track to see as many as 600 murders this year, it does not have the highest murder rate per capita in the US.
Over the weekend, the 51-year-old actor went on Twitter after the Republican presidential nominee tweeted about the death of Nykea Aldridge, the cousin of basketball player Dwayne Wade who was killed in crossfire in Chicago.
Chicago is the third most populous city in the USA, with roughly 2.7 million residents.
The governor also noted that Trump will appoint a USA attorney general “who will send very clear messages about how law enforcement is to be pursued in this country”. Not for me and my family but for the future of our world.
On Thursday, Wade spoke via satellite on a panel hosted by ESPN that was focused on gun violence.
Since that time, Trump has again tweeted his condolences to the mourning family.
Wade was understandably gutted by the violence that took a family member’s life.
Trump also misspelled Wade’s first name in the tweet, which was later edited to correct the spelling.
Chicago authorities have said more than half of the guns used in crimes come from out of state, including about 20 percent from Indiana. He tweeted about his cousin’s death Friday night.
