Two dead after crash on QEW in Oakville

According to a Halton Region Paramedic Services spokesperson, emergency crews were called to the eastbound lanes of the QEW between Trafalgar Road and Royal Windsor Drive around 9:10 p.m.

The OPP say two trucks were involved in a crash in the Toronto-bound lanes of the highway near Trafalgar Rd on Tuesday night. The empty flatbed truck and tractor-trailer were hauling auto parts.

All eastbound lanes of the QEW in Oakville remain closed this morning several hours after a fiery, multi-vehicle crash that claimed two lives.

The OPP is asking drivers to plan alternate routes and says the highway may not be open until 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A third person is in hospital with minor injuries.

Const. Tracey Lacarte could not say what caused the crash, but added charges are pending.

The thick fog is making it hard for investigators to process the scene.
