Two dead, at least nine injured in California bus crash
The California Highway Patrol said two are dead and and at least 18 are injured after a bus crash in San Jose, CA, early Tuesday morning.
The ensuing crash investigation is expected to involve Greyhound as well as the CHP’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), which Brazil said was summoned to the area from San Luis Obispo. Officials say the driver survived with minor injuries.

The CHP said four people suffered moderate injuries, and 13 others suffered minor injuries. The passenger claimed the bus driver fell asleep.
After the bus rolled, a driver travelling south hit some of the debris, damaging the vehicle but leaving the motorist uninjured, Miceli said.
Bus crash fatalities in California have been on a sharp uptick over the past few years. The number on the side of the bus read 86558, and according to Greyhound’s bus tracker, had left from Los Angeles.
California Highway Patrol said it will take about 8 hours to clear the scene.
The bus was carrying about 20 people when it crashed. Investigators are trying to learn the cause of the accident.
A passenger told KTVU the bus had been weaving back and forth before the crash. The incident occurred at around 6:40 a.m., as the bus was travelling north on Highway 101 near Highway 85, reported CW’s Los Angeles Affiliate KTLA 5.
“We’re cooperating fully with local authorities on their investigation and conducting our own”, she said.
The ill-fated bus was on Highway 101 when it crashed, causing traffic delays for miles.
