Two die in crash after ‘car travels wrong way down M1’
A Nottinghamshire man has been named as the passenger of a van who died in a crash on the M1 yesterday (October 12).
A vehicle is reported to have travelled the wrong way along the M1 before a crash that left two people dead.
He had been at the wheel of a Mazda Premacy when it collided with a Ford Transit van near Kegworth in Leicestershire.
About 25 metres of the road needs resurfacing across all three lanes and the hard shoulder.
It added: “It became apparent to the attending emergency services that this was a serious incident, with extensive clean-up, fix and recovery operations required”.
“And there really was a lighting fluid spill which generally got underneath of the rise of a given strategy, that makes it notably weak for other type of drivers”.
Prior to the collision Leicestershire Police had received reports of a auto travelling the wrong way down the southbound carriageway of the M1.
The driver of the van was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where he remains in a stable condition.
Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area. “Thank you for your patience”.
