Two hardcore NSCN(Khaplang) militants killed, one injured in gun fight with SF
Two teenaged students were killed in the cross-firing while a local woman, an officer and a jawan of the Assam Rifles sustained bullet injuries, they said. The crackdown of the insurgents is part of government’s initiative to check the growing insurgency in the region.
Chief Minister T R Zeliang today expressed his deepest condolences to the family members of the two students, who were killed in the firing incident that took place at Phor village under Phek district on July 16.
The Assam Rifles successfully eliminated two insurgents and captured one in a midnight ambush along the Myanmar border in Nagaland.
The situation in the area was reported to be tense after the death of the two students.
A patrol party were attacked by the militants and the exchange of fire lead to the killing of two NSCN(K) militants and capture of one.
On the other hand, the Assam Rifles have claimed that while they were carrying the dead bodies of the NSCN (K) cadres to be handed over to the police, the villagers of Phor stopped them near their village demanding that the body of the cadre who hailed from their village be given to them.
This has made the whole story reversed now and demands a thorough inquiry into the whole incidents. It is not known if there are any injured, sources said. Subsequently, the Special Forces were assigned to carry out an operation.
The Nagaland Government has already expressed its utter shock on the imposition of the DAA saying that it has been extended in the entire State of Nagaland at a time when the Government, people and various agencies along with the Central leaderships are seriously talking for finding some tangible solution to the Naga political issue.
Two from the NSCN(K) were killed, of which one was identified as “captain” Puhachu of Phor village and the other, a “corporal” Burmese Naga.
