Two Indians abducted in Nigeria
Talking to newsmen, Srilalitha said Naidu has assured that he would talk to the Union minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj and a few others to step up the efforts to trace Srinivas.
Both were travelling to Dangote Cement Plant in a auto from their residential quarters last Wednesday, when a group of armed men kidnapped them at a traffic signal.
“I have obtained a detailed report on the two Indian nationals Sai Srinivas and Anish Sharma who have been abducted in Nigeria”.
The men named as Sai Srinivas and Anish Sharma were ambushed on Wednesday morning in the town of Gboko, Benue state, while they were driving to work.
Though the Indian government has ruled out involvement of terror group in the kidnapping saying that local criminals were involved for a ransom, there has been no money demanded so far from the kidnappers. “The employers informed the governor of Benue State, state commissioner of police as well as the local head of the state security service and internal intelligence wing”, said Vikas Swarup, official spokesperson, MEA. Srinivas has been working as a civil engineer at the cement plant for the last three years. Before that he worked with Aditya Birla group in Raipur.
Collector N Yuvaraj said that Nigerian authorities had launched a search operation, and the district administration had contacted the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassy in Nigeria about the development.
