Two killed in California shooting near Social Security building
Two people were killed and two others were wounded during a shooting at a parking lot outside the Salinas Social Security office Thursday morning.
The victims’ identities and relations to one another have not been released. Maiorana said the suspect was related to the victims, but could not specify how they were related.
The shooting occurred outside the Social Security Administration building at 928 E. Blanco Road, Salinas police spokesman Spencer Critchley said.
Salinas’s police say the shooting started as a domestic disturbance and was not connected to the federal government office.
Authorities recovered the weapon, a 9mm caliber handgun, used in the shooting, he said. Vince Maiorana said the shooting appears to be “the result of a domestic disturbance among family members”.
Two people were reportedly shot dead near Monterey, Calif. with the suspected gunman allegedly heard telling arresting police officers that he didn’t mean to do it, according to local reports.
