Two missing after Firth of Forth boat capsize
A fisherman has died in hospital while his two crewmates remain missing after their boat overturned at sea.
A 30-year-old man was airlifted from the water and taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where he later passed away.
Mr Buchan, 35, and Mr Stead, 47, have not been located.
As part of the search for the missing men, Coastguard crews from St Andrews and Leven were again searching a large expanse of the Firth of Forth off the coast of East Wemyss, and right along to Kincraig Point.
The boat involved, believed to be about 10ft long, was also recovered in the East Wemyss area.
He died a short time later around 7pm.
Their 10ft-long vessel was found in the water near East Wemyss and was towed to land by the Anstruther lifeboat.
Someone on the shore alerted the coastguard to the incident at around 4.50pm.
He added that the weather in the area was “moderate” at the time of the incident.
The search had been suspended on Monday, shortly before 5pm, when it became too dark to continue, but began again on Tuesday morning.
A full-scale search was launched by the UK Coastguard which included a rescue helicopter based at RAF Boulmer, RNLI lifeboats from Kinghorn and Anstruther, Coastguard rescue teams from Kinghorn, St Andrews and Leven and police officers.
“We would ask for privacy while we, as a family come to terms with our loss”.
“My thoughts are with the friends and family of all of the fisherman, and with the local community at this time. We will look to provide further updates on our ongoing inquiry once we have more information”. He said: “It’s another pair of eyes isn’t it. Where I live, I have a clear view of the Forth so I could see the entire rescue effort on Monday night”.
