Two models of politics emerging in the nation: Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today summarily sacked Environment and Food Minister Asim Ahmed Khan for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a builder and recommended a CBI probe.
Asim Ahmed Khan, 38, was minister for food and environment, was immediately replaced by Imran Hussain, another MLA but it was ironic that Kejriwal has made no reference as to why the post was given to another Muslim member.
“…using a derogatory and demeaning term like ‘thulla’ to refer to police personnel is equivalent to referring to all Delhi Police officials as lethargic and unproductive”, the complainant said in his plea. Manish and I listened to the one hour audio clip. “This the message we want to give to the MLAs and the officers”, the Delhi Chief minister said. There will be no compromise with corruption.
“When we heard the audio, we found that prima facie Khan was guilty and we chose to take action against him”, said a party leader.
Kejriwal began his press conference by saying that the AAP was born from an anti-corruption movement.
“Sometimes Kejriwal fights with (Delhi’s Lt Governor) Najeeb Jung, sometimes with PM (Narendra Modi), sometimes with (Home Minister) Rajnath Singh, and sometimes with his own people”, said BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad. Khan has been sacked but CM Kejriwal maintained silence when asked if the MLA will be sacked from the party. After the dramatic announcement, Mr Kejriwal dared the BJP to do the same with its Chief Ministers in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, who are caught in controversies.
