Two Palestinians shot dead in West Bank
For years Israeli phone operators have been providing 3G to residents of Jewish settlements in the occupied Territories, but many Palestinians also use them by buying SIM cards of Israeli companies on the black market. Sentences in the trial are expected on January 13.
The developments could also further increase Israeli-Palestinian tensions amid a two-month wave of violence that has convulsed the region.
The Guardian headline ran: “Palestinian shot dead at Damascus gate in Jerusalem after stabbing Israeli guard”.
The delay was met with fury by Muhammad’s parents, who said the Israeli court was “playing games” and would never deliver real justice for them. An earlier similar plea was rejected by a Jerusalem court as the judge then said there was no evidence for insanity.
The court heard how the two teenagers, who were 16 at the time, beat the Palestinian boy unconscious in the back of a auto being driven by Mr Ben David.
Additional hearings will be held to decide the admissibility and relevance of the Ben-David’s psychological claims. Zaban said it would be examined separately later this month. The young defendants claimed that Ben-David gave them “pills and energy drinks”. “This is an evidence of the occupation’s racism and its sponsorship of the settlers’ crimes against the Palestinian people”, the Islamic militant group said in a statement.
Ben David was previously videotaped confessing to the murder, explaining how it had been planned and in retaliation for the murder of three Israeli teenagers.
On June 2 past year, the police found the body of Abu Khudeir dead after he had been kidnapped when he stood outside his house in Shufat neighborhood in east Jerusalem.
Mohammed Abu Khdeir, 16, was abducted in the early hours of July 2, 2014, while heading to the mosque for morning prayers in Shuafat, his village. The U.S. State Department said it was “disappointed” with that sentence.
The attacker was a 19-year-old woman, the official Palestinian Wafa news agency reported. In the aftermath of Khdeir’s murder, one of his cousins, a 15-year-old Palestinian-American boy, was beaten by Israeli police officers in an assault caught on camera.
Israel says the violence stems from Palestinian incitement and incendiary videos on social media. They were identified Rami Sharif, Ayman Ayyash, 18, anas Rabe’, Adham Rabe’, 22, Kayed Rabe’, 22, Mohammed As-Shwahin, 27, Abdel-Rahim al-Basit, 21, and brothers Samer, 18, and Tha’er Salhab, 20, in addition to two other brothers identified as Hussam and Sadiq Zaloum. He said: “I had hope, I was surprised – I thought it was going to be better, but I knew the trial was against us”.
A surge in Palestinian knifings, car-rammings and occasional shootings of Israelis since October 1 has put Abbas in an awkward position as he tries to curb the grassroots violence in West Bank areas under his authority while publicly condemning Israel’s policies. It said the soldier opened fire, killing her.
