Two Police Officers and Suspect Shot in Troy, New York
TROY- A Troy Police Department spokesman says two officers were shot by a would-be carjacker at 112th St. and 5th Ave. The first officer who was shot called in to let police know he had been shot and the suspect was down.
Police did not provide any additional information about the incident.
A third person, described as a suspect, was also shot, DeWolf said.
Comitale was shot in both of his lower legs. He later died from his injuries.
The names of the officers or the suspect who was shot were not immediately released.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators/Technicians are still processing the scene at this time.
Troy, population 50,000, is just north of the New York state capital of Albany.
“It’s very stressful, and it tugs at your heart”, Troy Police Captain Dan DeWolf said. Two Troy police officers were injured during gunfire along with a carjacking suspect.
Officers Klein and Comitale are now being treated at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Klein is a 9-year member of the Troy Police Department and is an Air Force Reserve Veteran and served in the Gulf War. The press conference will be held at Troy City Hall, in the Council Chambers.
