Two sheriff’s deputies struck during Orlando funeral procession
Two Florida motorcycle deputies were injured in a crash while escorting a funeral procession Saturday for one of the victims in the Orlando massacre. Reports say the woman has not yet been charged but will be shortly.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed to CBS News that a female driver pulled into the procession and struck two Osceola County motorcycle deputies in Kissimmee.
One deputy is in serious but stable condition, and the other is listed in stable condition.
According to eye witnesses, a woman in a vehicle not involved in the funeral procession saw what she thought was a small break in the line of cars going down a street, and tried to hurriedly break across to the other side.
Her car then struck a first police car head on, causing the front of a second police car to strike the left rear of Morales’s vehicle.
Police have not identified the police officers involved in the crash. It wasn’t immediately clear who was being honored during Saturday’s incident. Funerals are taking place over the weekend.
