Two stabbed to death at Ikea store in Sweden
Two people have been killed and another seriously injured in a knife attack at an Ikea store in Vasteras in Sweden, according to police.
Further details about the condition of the injured person were not immediately available.
There was no indication the attack was terrorism-related.
A middle-aged suspect was arrested and was being questioned.
Police report receiving a call about the incident at around 1 p.m. A man and a woman with stab wounds were found at the scene, they later died of their injuries. A third person was severely injured.
A witness said: “I saw lots of police and ambulances”.
Upon finding the alleged suspect, he was arrested and held on suspicion of murder.
The store’s manager told local media that the victims were “three seemingly ordinary visitors”, the news site The Local reported.
The store has been closed and the area cordoned off.
Stromback, the police spokesman, told VLT that the authorities had not yet determined whether the attack was pre-meditated or spontaneous. “We do not have a motive at the moment”, Stromback said.
