Two stabbing attacks in Jerusalem within minutes
According to the Palestinian health ministry, more than 80 Palestinians have died, a few in clashes with security forces during protests, while others have been gunned down by security forces and vigilante citizens trying to carry out attacks against Israelis.
In a third incident, just outside Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, a Palestinian tried to stab a border policeman near the West Bank village of Abu Dis and was killed by security forces, police said.
Israeli forces further confiscated a few NIS 35,00 of money found during the arrest raids.
Palestinians accuse the Israeli regime of changing the five-decade-old status quo which allows the Jews to visit the holy shrine but not pray there.
Hundreds of Palestinians purchased apartments in the new buildings, however were unable to move in because the city lacked running water. The police spokesman said via Twitter that the assailant was “neutralized” by police on site but did not detail his condition.
Jerusalem had been relatively quiet for the past two weeks following an Israeli crackdown in response to the attacks.
The young assailants’ attack happened minutes before a second stabbing in another section of the Israeli city, continuing a recent uptick in violence between Israelis and Palestinians. The 13-year-old at the time was recovering at an Israeli hospital. Israel has repeatedly denied such claims. She showed a photograph of the knife.
The Israeli army said troops were looking for another person suspected of involvement in the attack but provided no details.
The 15-year-old attacker was shot and killed as he lunged as police officers responding to the scene.
Attorney Lea Tsemel, who is representing Ahmed, said she may contest the investigation based on the manner of questioning seen in the video. Police said the other was taken into custody.
