Two Suicide Bombers Die In Borno Hospital Attack – Channels Television
Vice President, Yemi Osinbanjo, made an unannounced visit to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, on Wednesday according to reports.
The vice president assured the IDPs that the Boko Haram insurgency will come to an end.
In the early hours of today, the Vice President paid a courtesy visit to the state and it was reported that there were twin suicide explosions few distance away from the main market.
It was gathered that the visit was a step towards getting first hand information of the condition of the victims and the IDPs by the Federal Government for onward action.
Osinbajo was received by the state’s governor Jibrila Bindo, before proceeding to the camps to see the victims.
He said, “I am here in Borno State, and in particular, in this camp on the specific instructions of the President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, who out of great concern for the well-being and the welfare of men, children and women in this camp, sent me”.
“Clearly the state government is doing an incredible job”.
Mr. Osinbajo said the Federal Government was committed to ensuring the return of the IDPs to their homes.
“When they were denied (entry), the explosives on their bodies detonated and killed them”, he said. Boko Haram have wracked serious problems across the nation, particularly in the north eastern region.
Monguno is among the several towns recently taken back by the Nigerian army, which insists that skeletal attacks by Boko Haram are a “desperate measure by a group on the verge of extinction”.
