TX: Wife kicks husband out; he lives in yard
Neighbors in the upscale waterfront development of Taylor Lake Shores in Lakeview are asking authorities, and a reclusive doctor, to find a solution to a months-long dispute that has left a 69-year-old man camped out in the front yard of his million-dollar house after a dispute with his wife.
The police tell us they’ve been called out here as many as 30 times in the last six months. Neighbors are concerned about the elderly man’s health.
“He’s wearing the same clothing, it’s dirty”, one neighbor tells KPRC. “He has no bathroom facilities, no shoes”.
“The weather is starting to get colder”, said Laurel Stout, a neighbor.
Even in light of those medical issues, his son says Khan has refused all offers to stay in alternative housing like a hotel or apartment.
“I’m really weak, but otherwise OK”, he said Tuesday, seated underneath the palm trees in his front yard on Ray Shell Court.
“Allowing this to continue is not in the best interest of anyone”.
Sharafat Khan, the co-owner of a million-dollar mansion in suburban Houston, has spent the past six months living on his front lawn after his wife kicked him out the house.
Khan says it’s simple – he owns this home and half of everything inside.
“She doesn’t want me to have any sort of comfort”, he said.
Khan has another theory: “She doesn’t want to hand over half her fortune”, he told KPRC.
It was an everyday argument that got him kicked out of the house, Khan said.
The pair have allegedly been fighting for the past six years after an assault charge in 2008, in which he was accused of striking his wife.
Adult Protective Services have gotten involved but can not comment on the ongoing situation.
An online database also states Khan was the director of the family company Kahn Investments LLC. Records show that a final judgment has not yet been signed.
Asked what is was trying to accomplish the husband told: ‘To realize whatever she is doing she’s doing bad, ‘.
Zain Khan also said in his Facebook comment that his father stole money from his mother and gave it to relatives with whom he lived in California after abandoning his children in Texas.
‘People will know, the neighbors and everything else. Let her know what you’re doing to your husband’.
