Tyson Barrie suspended 3 games for charging Simon Despres
As a first-time offender, Barrie will fork over ,935.47 for his three games in time-out. The suspension stems from an illegal check to the head against Anaheim Ducks defenseman Simon Despres, on which Barrie left his feet. The 24-year-old also has posted a minus-2 rating and two penalty minutes. The reason he’s on IR is Tyson Barrie of the Colorado Avalanche. John Mitchell continued his torrid pace, scoring into an empty net late in the third period to give him a goal in each of the Avalanche’s four games. The Department of Player Safety took notice and suspended Barrie for the next three games.
Barrie led all Avalanche defensemen in points last season posting career-best totals in assists (41) and points (53). He will miss games Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday, and return the following Tuesday.
A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Barrie recorded a goal and five assists in 10 games while winning the gold medal with Canada at the IIHF World Championship earlier this year.
