Tyson Fury has Croke Park on venue list for Wladimir Klitschko rematch
The WBC title has always been regarded as the sport’s most prestigious. People didn’t consider him Irish.
Fury also revealed his disappointment at not being allowed to represent Ireland in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
Vitali Klitschko has claimed that his younger brother, Wladimir, was “not in good condition” after he was defeated by Tyson Fury on Saturday.
Boente added that the fight could take place anywhere in the world and Fury is contractually obliged to offer a rematch. There is a contract to say he is entitled to a rematch. “If I would have told you 120 years ago, that a 1000-tonne aeroplane is going to float through the sky, a piece of steel – ludicrous”.
“Many experts have said that they did not recognise Wladimir [in that fight, because he did not look like his usual self]. The three I always said was Croke Park, United and Madison Square Garden”. Maybe that can be reality one day.
“I always said that there’s a couple of venues in the world that I wanted to box in”. And one of them’s Croke Park.
Fury, 27, has no plans whatsoever to give Haye a “payday” after the former WBA champion twice pulled out of fights with the self-styled “Gypsy King” over the last two years.
On Tuesday morning, however, Fury denied that he had made the comments attributed to him in the article and accused Holt of misquoting him.
“It was heart-breaking. It was heart-breaking for my family and my Dad. They tried to deny his Irish heritage and it was a very upsetting time for the family”, Fury explained.
Tyson Fury has said he would rather give unbeaten cousin Hughie a shot at the world heavyweight title rather than fighting old rival David Haye. “I’ll be unified champion at some point”. “I’m born and bred in Manchester in England but people who know me know I’ve been back and forward to Ireland for a long, long time”.
“My grandmother on my mother’s side was born in Belfast, Nutt’s Corner, and I’ve lots of relatives over there”.
Fury repeatedly paid tribute to God throughout the interview, noting ‘if God is with you, who can be against you?’ I’m not homophobic, I’m not racist and I’m not against any people.
