Tyson Fury is prepared to fight his cousin rather than David Haye
“I’m heavyweight champion of the world and I’m trying to get used to that at the moment”.
Labour shadow minister Chris Bryant said he would not be celebrating the new heavyweight boxing champion’s win, with Fury defeating Vladimir Klitschko at the weekend.
The traveller added that Klitschko’s camp had tried little tricks to unsettle him before the fight, describing them as “very good at cheating”.
Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was anxious he might be drugged in the aftermath of his title fight with Wladimir Klitschko.
Whether he fancies Wilder remains to be seen, with Fury initially deriding the 30-year-old, three years his senior, calling him “a basketball player who took up boxing a couple of years ago”. But if Wilder can win in January, then get past Povetkin in the spring or early summer, it could be Fury after that.
Controversy engulfed Fury and Klitschko even before the final match- first, over a pair of gloves sent to Fury by Klitschko’s chosen manufacturer Paffen and second because the ring was considered too soft until a layer of foam was removed from the canvas.
“I’m still Tyson Fury. Everything is falling in our plan, our time and our planning for what we want to do”.
“I’m fine with it. I don’t need Tyson Fury”.
Despite this talk, Fury has to know a unification fight, against a huge puncher and as marketable a fighter as Wilder, could not fail to do huge business.
Tyson Fury is basking in the glow of his new status of world champion. “If you’re after a yes man, it’s not me”.
‘So, if Deontay Wilder wants a unification fight he is going to have to wait, because Wladimir Klitschko has a round two…ding ding ding!’ That doesn’t mean Joshua can’t still have a good career and blast Fury out when/if he finally gets a fight against him. I thought, “I’m never going to let my kids be knocked about for money and being abused for a public spectacle”.
Wilder described Saturday’s fight as the most boring in heavyweight history and said he would show Fury “no remorse” if they face each other in the ring. “I think Wladimir is really in two minds about the rematch because he looked really busted up to me at the press conference after”. “I would rather make a voluntary defence of all those titles against Hughie than Haye”.
