Tyson Fury Next Fight
Fury said: “They are cheats, they are extremely good at cheating”.
It wasn’t the greatest fight of all time but Tyson Fury’s performance in beating heavyweight boxing’s dominant figure Wladimir Klitschko was an “exceptional display”. He’s suggested everything from being given a pair of boxing gloves that didn’t fit him to his weight being written down wrong at the weigh-in were attempts to rattle the unbeaten Fury and get into his head before the fight. “I would rather make a voluntary defence of all those titles against Hughie than Haye”. I’m a true natural fighter. The good thing is I’ve got people who want me to progress.
“I went home dehydrated because I was so frightened of being tested and failing the test because they’ve given me something”.
Although a rematch has been written into the contract between the two men, and Klitschko simply remarked, “It’s to be continued”, tweeting, “I still don’t believe I actually lost”.
I’d like to come back to Germany again to fight Wladimir. Because Hughie is my first cousin.
British current WBC International and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, 26, said an all-British fight with Fury would happen “next year or the year after”.
Asked to clarify or comment further on some of his recent controversial outbursts reported in interviews given prior to the Klitschko fight, Fury had a clear message for his detractors. Let’s laugh at his name, shall we?
The heavyweight division, stagnant for a decade because of the dominance of Klitschko and his older brother Vitali, is suddenly in flux. I’ve had a full six months of it. It’s like winning the lottery and still buying lottery tickets – I’m not bothered. He’s a basketball player who took up boxing a couple of years ago.
“I thought, ‘What from a 14-year-old lad?’ – and I had fought some tough cookies in my time”. It’s got to be 10 – I still had the energy for a big vocal after a twelve-round fight!
Feeling Christmassy at his media day (Jon Super/PA) “I don’t care. I’m the toughest, the strongest and the fastest heavyweight he’s faced”. I’m just thinking about life at the moment and enjoying Christmas coming up.
While speculation continues to rage over Fury’s next opponent – he has distanced himself from a showdown with former world champion David Haye – the self-styled “Gypsy King” sees no reason why he should censor his views.
At his homecoming event in Bolton (Simon Cooper/PA) “I say it as it is”.
