Tyson Fury out to unify all four heavyweight titles after Wladimir Klitschko
He said their intention was to wait and see if Ukrainian Klitschko (64-4, 54 KOs), 39, committed to a rematch, a clause for which was included in the Klitschko-Fury fight contract.
“I don’t know if (Klitschko) is going to take the rematch or not”, he said.
Fury claimed the WBA Super, WBO and IBF titles on Saturday night in Dusseldorf when he secured an upset points victory over Wladimir Klitschko.
Fury admitted he was nervous as he waited for the judges’ scores of 115-112 (twice) and 116-111 to be announced.
The message further reads: “I was really frustrated directly after the fight but after some short nights I now know that I want to show that I am much better than my performance on Saturday”.
“I think it [the rematch announcement] is fantastic news”.
Fury had a game plan and he stuck to it, keeping out of Klitschko’s reach while making some telling blows throughout the clash.
Klitschko was unable to match Fury and failed to stage a comeback which led to his first loss since 2004, when Lamon Brewster defeated him via technical knockout (TKO).
“To be clear, Tyson Fury must fight Vyacheslav Glazkov next”, said IBF chairman Lindsey Tucker.
“I’m quite confident the fight can be a mega fight here in the United Kingdom and I’m hopeful the fight can end up here”.
“Japan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, America – wherever it has to be, it has to be”.
“I wouldn’t say I’m Irish born and bred because that would just be lying”.
“So, if Deontay Wilder wants a unification fight he is going to have to wait, because Wladimir Klitschko has a round two…ding ding ding”. “BUT: I have to thank my fans, my team and all my partners”.
“I’ve got to fight someone in January and after that fight I would love to have a unification bout – and guess what, I wouldn’t mind coming to the United Kingdom for that one”.
Klitschko’s older brother, Vitali, believes his brother is deserving of a rematch and said, according to Sky Sports, “It is up to him to decide what he wants to do”.
