U.S. News ranks 3 local hospitals among Colorado’s 10 best

It is the only hospital in Northern California ranked in the Top 10 on the Honor Roll, which highlights hospitals that are exceptional in numerous medical specialties.

The 2015-16 national rankings are focused on covering the availability of sophisticated care in 16 medical and surgical specialties. It was No. 4 in Florida and No. 1 in the Jacksonville metro area.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid released a star rating system earlier this year to qualify patient experience at hospitals.

Deciding on the best hospitals isn’t easy, given that some of these healthcare centers fail in offering easy medical treatments while some are better with hard cases. “At Stanford Health Care we seek to heal humanity through science and compassion, one patient at a time”.

The latest survey evaluated hospitals in 16 adult specialties and ranked the top 50 in most of the specialties.

Hackensack was high performing in cancer, ear nose and throat, gastroenterology and GI surgery, gynecology, nephrology and pulmonology.

Holy Spirit was ranked high performing in geriatrics, which involves care given to the elderly.

UC San Diego has doubled its number of specialty rankings since 2011 and has ranked as the #1 health system in the San Diego metropolitan region for 5 consecutive years. “The nurses, faculty, and staff deliver the promise of medicine every single day, and for this we are grateful”.

Dr. Scott Spier, the hospital’s senior vice president of medical affairs, said he was particularly gratified that the hospital ranked so highly in Maryland despite having no academic affiliation and being one of the state’s few independent hospitals. This year, the rankings for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals were based on both of its locations – San Francisco and Oakland.
