Uber chief sorry for arguing with Uber driver over fares
But Uber may need more: after an unending stream of bad news in 2017, the company should consider replacing Kalanick with an experienced, professional CEO. First, more than 200,000 subscribers deleted their Uber app after the firm was accused of breaking a strike by taxi drivers protesting Donald Trump’s executive order against refugees.
“Freada Kapor Klein, a partner at Kapor Capital and an early investor in Uber who wrote a blistering open letter to the company after Fowler’s allegations emerged, said in an interview that when it comes to diverse and inclusive cultures, “Uber has been pretty far behind in an industry that is far behind”.
In February, Kalanick quit from Trump’s business advisory council amid intense public criticism, as his membership in the council was being read as support for the billionaire president’s agenda.
First, public outrage – and a trending Twitter hashtag, #deleteuber – prompted Kalanick to step down from President Trump’s economic advisory council, saying his participation was not meant to be read as an endorsement of Trump’s policies.
“What we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks are self-inflicted wounds”, he said.
“But in general the whole price is -” says Kamel.
Jon Clay wrote: “you are the man, times a million!” “You dropped the prices …”
Last month, Travis Kalanick, CEO of Uber, was traveling in an Uber, as you’d expect him to do.
Kamel: “What? Lyft? It’s a piece of cake right there”. “But if I didn’t do the things I did, we would have been beaten, I promise”. “We could go higher and more expensive”, Kamal told Kalanick.
‘People are not trusting you anymore I lost $97,000 (78,370) because of you.
“How much is the mile now, $2.75?”
The Uber chief is shown sitting with two women in the back seat of Kamel’s vehicle.
Kamel appears to be telling the truth, because Uber has indeed cut fares a number of times since 2012, which has reduced longtime drivers’ earnings.
Mr Kalanick dismissed the driver’s concerns as “bulls”, and told him: ‘Some people don’t like to take responsibility for their own s.
Kalanick goes on to say “some people … blame everything in their life on somebody else”.
In a post to Uber’s blog, Kalanick noted that he had serious leadership issues.
WKYC Channel 3’s Chris Tye has reviewed the tape, the apology of Travis Kalanick, and what it may mean for drivers. In it, he apologized to Kamel, as well as Uber’s drivers.
Uber launched an urgent investigation into its workplace company practices last week after a damning blog written by Susan Fowler, this alleged discrimination and sexual harassment that she suffered within the workplace.
Kalanick and the women are talking about the company’s recent troubles.
On Monday, Uber asked its new senior vice president of engineering to resign for failing to disclose a sexual harassment allegation against him at his former post at Google. Write to us in the Comments Section or on our Facebook page.
