Uber says suspected Michigan gunman was driver for service
Four people were killed at a third shooting scene in the Cracker Barrel parking lot, where the gunman opened fire on people in their cars after a brief conversation.
The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. It was the last of three separate shootings on Saturday in which Jason Brian Dalton is the suspect. He was arrested without incident on Sunday while driving away from the parking lot of an area bar.
Six people, not seven, were killed in Saturday’s shooting in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, county prosecutor Jeff Getting said.
The carnage in Kalamazoo, a city of about 75,000 people, was the latest in a series of mass shootings that have elevated gun control as a campaign issue in the November U.S. presidential election.
Uber also released its firearms policy that prohibits both drivers and passengers from carrying firearms in an Uber vehicle. Other websites and databases such at the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website are used as well.
A teenage girl remains in critical condition.
Confirming that Dalton worked for the firm, Joe Sullivan, Chief Security Officer at Uber, told Metro.co.uk: ‘We are horrified and heartbroken at the senseless violence in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
An Uber driver who shot and killed six people on Saturday night in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was picking up and dropping off passengers between his attacks, local news reports.

It’s believed Dalton acted alone, state police said. “We are reaching out to the police to help with their investigation in any way that we can”.
“He loved to do things outside with his kids” like taking them for rides on his lawn tractor, Block said.
“I’m upset because I tried contacting Uber after I had talked to the police saying that we needed to get this guy off the road”, said Mellen.
The first shooting occurred around around 5:45 p.m.at the Meadows Townhomes near Comstock. At 10pm local time, he shot two people to death at a auto dealership.
“What it looks like is we have someone just driving around, finding people and shooting them dead in their tracks”, Paul Matyas, a Kalamzoo undersheriff told WOOD-TV prior to the suspect being detained. They said he was not believed to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“The guy was a family man that for all intents and purposes seemed to stick with his family”, said Gary Pardo Jr., whose parents live across the street from Dalton in Kalamazoo Township. Dalton, who was working as an Uber driver, has no known criminal history and passed a background check for the transportation company.
