UberX to pick up at Los Angeles International Airport
Uber Black, Uber SUV and Uber Luxe services will pick up and drop off passengers on the lower arrivals level.
“This new direct flight from Bradley to Los Angeles will be a major boon to Connecticut-boosting tourism and providing our businesses and residents with expanded, convenient cross-country transportation options”, Blumenthal said in a release. Also, each ride will have a $4 charge.
“We are thrilled to help simplify and modernize the airport travel experience with the launch of UberX ride service pickups at LAX”, said Christopher Ballard, General Manager of Uber Southern California.
“Uber has changed the way Angelenos and visitors to Los Angeles move around our city”.
The Fort Worth-based carrier is the biggest airline at LAX, serving about 19% of the passengers at the airport, while Delta Air Lines and United Airlines each carry about 16%. Last week, Mayor Garcetti and airport leaders announced that in 2015, an estimated 74.5 million people passed through LAX, more than ever in its history. The surcharge, which is similar to fees paid by other airport transportation providers, is used to maintain roadways and reduce traffic congestion in the central terminal area. Uber is the second ride-share operator to be authorized for pickups at the airport.
The airport is in the middle of a $8.5 billion modernization program. The agency overseeing LAX says that in the first two weeks, there were almost 50,000 drop-off and pick-up trips. “Revenue generated will be invested to continue improving LAX”.
