Ubisoft buys up Ivory Tower and The Crew
Ivory Tower presented Ubisoft with their idea for The Crew a couple of years ago, and the two developers worked together to make the game happen.
In a post on the publisher’s official Blog, Ubisoft said, “The Ivory Tower team is now officially part of the Ubisoft family”.
To help celebrate that fact, the developers at Ivory Tower have released a new trailer, showing off the new vehicles and new events, that lead up to a big racer festival in the middle of nowhere, known as The Summit. Building on Eden’s experience in the racing genre (which included the V-Rally series and the acclaimed Test Drive Unlimited) The Crew was Ivory Tower’s debut game. By joining Ubisoft, the team at Ivory Tower will continue to benefit from Ubisoft’s infrastructure, support, tools, technology and vision. The Crew had drawn 3 million players globally since it was released. There has been no mention of the publishing giant renaming the studio or shaking it up too much, as it will continue to work on new content for The Crew, though there was a hint in the announcement that it may now help with other Ubisoft projects.
In line with that, IGN reported Boukhelifa’s team is now working out on the game’s expansion, The Crew: Wild Run.
This closed beta will feature both PvE and PvP opportunities, allowing participants to control dragsters, drift cars, monster trucks and motorcycles “from prestigious brands” alike.
