“William Stanback has been dismissed from the football team for continuous failure to comply with athletic policy and team rules”, the release stated.
UCF announced Tuesday that All-American Athletic Conference running back Will Stanback has been dismissed from the football team.
Stanback was expected to be the lead back this season, but whatever trouble he has consistently found himself in has led to his dismissal.
“I had to deal with some injuries a year ago “. He had appeared in two of the Knights’ three games this season, rushing 12 times for 11 yards. “It broke down my confidence”, Stanback said back in August.
When Wilson was injured in the first half of the season opener, Stanback filled in the backfield but netted just 6 yards on 10 carries.
His play is a microcosm of the Knights’ offensive play as a whole this season.
During his freshman year in 2013, he contributed to the Knights’ run to the Fiesta Bowl, rushing for 443 yards and six touchdowns on 105 carries, averaging a career-best 4.2 yards per carry. He is set to address the media today following practice.
