CLEVELAND, Ohio- For the 21st year in a row, the Cleveland Clinic’s heart care program has ranked No. 1 on U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of best hospitals.

UC San Diego Health – which also includes Thornton Hospital, the Moores Cancer Center, the Shiley Eye Institute and Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center – was ranked sixth in pulmonology; 18th in geriatrics; 20th in nephrology; 22nd in neurology and neurosurgery; 23rd in cancer treatment; 24th for cardiology and heart surgery, and also for gastroenterology and GI surgery; 25th for urology; 31st for both orthopedics, and diabetes and endocrinology; 33rd for ear, nose & throat; and 44th for gynecology. Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt scored among the top 50 in the country for many specialties, according to U.S. News. Sixteen of those medical centers were chosen for an honor roll that featured Massachusetts General Hospital in the top spot, followed by Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic and a tie between Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and UCLA Medical Center for third.
