UConn student arrested after viral rant about mac and cheese
Gatti repeatedly refused to leave the dining area without a few of his beloved “f***ing bacon-jalapeño mac and cheese”.
But, according to video of the incident, his plans were thwarted by a manager who objected to Gatti bringing an open beer into the food court. The nine-minute video, which has had more than 51,000 views as of Tuesday morning, shows at least three of the manager’s co-workers coming to his aid.
But Gatti – dressed in sweatpants, socks and sandals – refuses to comply and instead, is seen repeatedly hurling abuse at the manager, including a homophobic slur.
Gatti was arrested by UConn police at about 10 p.m. Sunday night after becoming “verbally and physically abusive” toward staff at the UConn Student Union, according to a police report.
And when the police eventually arrive and handcuff Gatti, he finally realizes his mistake and begins to cry, adding: ‘F***! As he is being led out, Gatti spits at the employee.
A second cafe employee attempted to intervene and told Gatti to take it outside, but he refused.
‘Generally speaking, any UConn student found to have violated the provisions of the Student Code may face penalties imposed by the Division of Student Affairs that range from probation to expulsion’.
The blog Only in Amherst reports Gatti was previously a student at UMass Amherst, where he was arrested twice for run-ins with cops last September. Both times, Gatti became combative with both onlookers and police officers.
As a fitting update, it turns out this kid is no stranger to disorderly conduct. He was reportedly awaiting an October 15 court date and had two previous arrests, including once calling a detective the N-word and assaulting a police officer.
